Privacy Policy for Fontiq
Effective date: 16 August 2026
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This policy explains what Fontiq ("the app", "we") does with information when you use it. It covers the Android app published on Google Play under the package name com.pavko.fontiq, including its keyboard, its text-styling screens and its sharing features.
Fontiq is developed by PAVKO ("we", "us").

1. The short version
| What | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do we run our own servers? | No. Fontiq has no backend and no user accounts. |
| Do we see what you type? | No. Text you type stays on your device. |
| Does the keyboard send your keystrokes anywhere? | No. See section 4. |
| Do we sell personal data? | No. Never. |
| Is there advertising? | Yes — Google AdMob. It uses an advertising identifier. |
| Are there purchases? | Yes — through Google Play Billing. We never see your payment details. |
| Do we measure how the app is used? | Yes — Firebase Analytics, as events such as "a style was copied". Never the text itself. |
| Do we get crash reports? | Yes — Firebase Crashlytics, to fix crashes. |
| Notifications? | Only if you allow them, and you can switch them off in Settings at any time. |
| Can you say no? | In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland a consent form is shown before ads and analytics; you can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy choices. |
2. Information stored on your device
Fontiq keeps your working data locally, in the app's private storage. This never leaves your device unless you deliberately share or copy something.
- text you last typed, so the app opens where you left off
- your favourite styles, fonts and saved looks
- your copy history (the styled text you copied inside the app)
- recently used symbols and fonts
- settings: theme, interface language, haptics, keyboard layout, start screen
- counters used to decide when to offer an app update, a review prompt or the Pro offer, and when you last opened the app (for the reminder in section 3.6)
- the name you typed during onboarding, used for the reminder notification; it is never sent anywhere
- photos you chose as a Studio background, copied into the app's private storage (Android's photo picker gives the app only the photos you select)
Your saved content (favourites, saved looks, history, settings and background photos) may be included in Android's own device backup. Purchase status and the usage counters are deliberately left out of the backup; after a restore, Pro comes back from your Google Play account.
You can erase all of it at any time: Android Settings → Apps → Fontiq → Storage → Clear data. Uninstalling the app removes it as well.
3. Information processed by third parties
Fontiq itself collects nothing. The services below are provided by Google and process data under their own privacy policies.
Some of these services are enabled as the corresponding features ship. A version of the app that does not show ads does not load the advertising SDK at all. The Data Safety section on the app's Google Play listing always describes the version you are installing.
3.1 Google AdMob (advertising)
The free version of the app shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may process your advertising identifier, device and app information, coarse location derived from IP address, and interaction data with the ads, in order to serve and measure advertising.
Where required by law (the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), we present a consent form before any personalised advertising is served, using Google's User Messaging Platform. You may choose non-personalised ads, and you can change your choice later from the app's settings.
You can also limit ad tracking system-wide: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

3.2 Google Play Billing (purchases)
Purchases of Fontiq Pro are processed by Google Play. We never receive or store your card number, billing address or any payment credential. We receive only the fact that a purchase was made, so the app can unlock the paid features.
3.3 Firebase
We use the following Firebase services from Google:
- Firebase Analytics — event-level usage statistics, for example "the onboarding was finished", "a style was copied", "a sticker was shared from Studio", "the keyboard was used today". Events carry only identifiers such as the style or preset name, the screen, and the writing system of the text (Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic…) — never the text itself, and never the name of another app. Used to understand which features are worth improving.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and non-fatal error reports, including the device model, OS version, app version, the screen that was open, whether the keyboard was active, and a stack trace. Used to fix crashes.
- Firebase Remote Config — lets us adjust the frequency of ads, when the review and Pro prompts appear and which plan the paywall preselects, without shipping an update. It only downloads settings; it sends nothing about you. Prices always come from Google Play.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications, only if you allow them. Notifications are sent to groups ("all users", "users of the Ukrainian interface"…), not to individual people; we do not store your push token.
These services process a Firebase installation ID, device and OS information, and the usage events above. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage stay off until you give consent in the form (Google Consent Mode).

3.4 Google Play Services — Downloadable Fonts
Fontiq ships 14 typefaces inside the app and can download the rest of its catalogue on demand. Downloading uses the system font provider built into Google Play Services: the request contains the name of the font family you are about to use. We do not host fonts ourselves and do not see these requests.
3.5 Google Play — updates and review prompt
The app uses Google Play's in-app update and in-app review APIs. These are handled entirely by the Play Store app; we only ask it to show its own dialogs.
3.6 Notifications and the reminder
If you turn on Style ideas (the app asks after you first use it, or in Settings), Fontiq may receive a few notifications a week with new fonts and ideas, and one local reminder if you have not opened the app for a couple of days. The reminder is built on your device from the name you typed during onboarding; the name is not sent anywhere. Switch both off in Settings → Style ideas, or in Android's notification settings.
3.7 Identifiers, in one place
- Advertising ID — used by AdMob, see 3.1. You can reset or delete it in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Firebase installation ID — used by Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config. Clearing the app's data creates a new one.
- Push token — created only after you allow notifications, used by Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them. Not stored by us.
4. The Fontiq keyboard
Fontiq includes an optional keyboard (an input method). Android requires the system to warn you that a keyboard can collect what you type. Here is what this keyboard actually does:
- It does not log, store or transmit what you type. Nothing you type through the Fontiq keyboard is written to disk, sent over the network, or shared with any third party — including us.
- The current word is held in memory only long enough to restyle it, and is discarded as soon as the word ends.
- It never records which app you are typing in.
- In password fields, and in fields that ask keyboards not to learn from them, the keyboard types plain characters with no style, offers no picture and counts nothing.
- The list of recently used fonts and your chosen layout are stored locally so the keyboard opens the way you left it.
- When you send a word as a picture, the image is written to the app's private cache and handed to the app you are typing in. It is not uploaded anywhere. Exported pictures older than a day are deleted from the cache.
- The keyboard is part of the Fontiq app, so the same crash reporting runs while it is open. Once a day it may send one analytics event saying that the keyboard was used, with the layout and the style chosen — not what was typed and not where. The keyboard shows no ads.
5. Styling text from other apps
Fontiq can appear in the text-selection menu of other apps ("Fancy" / "Fontiq"). When you use it, the selected text is passed to Fontiq by Android, styled on your device, and returned to the app you were in, or copied to your clipboard. The selected text is not stored and not transmitted.
6. Images you export
Stickers you export are rendered on your device and written to the app's private cache so that they can be shared. When you tap Share, Android hands the image to the app you choose — for example a messenger or a social app. What happens to the image after that is governed by that app's own privacy policy.
7. Permissions
Fontiq requests very little:
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE— to tell whether fonts can be downloaded, and to show "no connection" instead of failing silently.INTERNET(added by the advertising and Firebase libraries) — to load ads, deliver analytics and crash reports, and download fonts.BIND_INPUT_METHOD— required by Android for any keyboard. Granted only if you enable the Fontiq keyboard yourself.- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13 and newer) — asked for only after you have used the app, and only if you tap "Yes" on our own card first.
Fontiq does not request access to contacts, photos, precise location, microphone or camera.
8. Legal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
- Legitimate interest — keeping the app working, fixing crashes, and security.
- Consent — advertising and analytics storage (collected through Google's consent form), and push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices, Settings → Style ideas, or your device settings.
- Contract — processing a purchase you have made.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because Fontiq has no accounts and no servers, most of your data is under your direct control: clearing the app's data erases everything it stores. For data held by Google's services, write to us at pavkoapp@gmail.com and we will pass the request on, or contact Google directly using their privacy tools.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. You may exercise your rights by contacting us at the address above.
10. Children
Fontiq is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Data retention
Data stored on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the app. Data held by Google's services is retained according to Google's own retention policies: Firebase Analytics events are kept for up to 14 months, Crashlytics reports for 90 days.
12. International transfers
Google's services may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States. Google relies on standard contractual clauses and other approved mechanisms for these transfers.
13. How to switch things off
- Ads and analytics consent — Settings → Ad privacy choices (shown where the consent form applies).
- Notifications — Settings → Style ideas, or Android notification settings.
- Advertising ID — Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Everything stored by the app — Android Settings → Apps → Fontiq → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall.
- Data held by Google's services — write to pavkoapp@gmail.com; we will delete the analytics and crash data linked to your installation on request. Step by step: https://pavkoapp.web.app/fontiq/delete
14. Security
Data stored by the app lives in Android's private per-app storage, which other apps cannot read. Network traffic to Google's services is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where the change is significant, show a notice in the app. Continuing to use Fontiq after a change means you accept the updated policy.
